There are two options to create OpenAthens links:
1. OpenAthens Link Generator Tool
- Go to https://go.openathens.net/generate/mssm.edu/81008449
- Paste the URL for the resource you would like to use into the "Enter your links" field. You can paste multiple links separated by a space or new line.
- Click Enter.
- The tool should generate an OpenAthens link to the resource that you could copy and paste wherever you need to use it (Blackboard, syllabus, email, etc.).
2. Manually Create a Resource Link
You can also manually add the OpenAthens prefix to existing library articles, journals, books, videos, databases or other resources*.
OpenAthens Prefix: https://go.openathens.net/redirector/mssm.edu?url=
- Capture the resource URL you would like to create a link for.
- Add the following prefix BEFORE the resource URL: https://go.openathens.net/redirector/mssm.edu?url=
-
The new resource URL should look like the following:
-
https://go.openathens.net/redirector/mssm.edu?url=https://www.nejm.org/doi/full/10.1056/NEJMe2312633
-
*Please note that if replacing the prefix does not work, try using the link generator instead. Some URLs include special characters that the link generator will encode for you.
